Spay/Neuter Project
The SCHS offers monetary assistance to income-qualified individuals residing in Smyth County whose pets need to be spayed/neutered. The SCHS coordinates van transports twice a month to the Margaret Mitchell low cost spay/neuter clinic in Bristol.
The van picks up animals at the Marion Tractor Supply on North Main Street between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. and returns
them the following day at noon to be picked up by their owners. To learn more or to make an appointment call 276-780-7702.

Adoption Project
The SCHS encourages adoption of animals from the Smyth County Animal Shelter (276-646-2222) and local animal rescues.
Pictures and descriptions of the shelter animals available for adoption are published weekly in the
Smyth County News and Messenger and can be accessed at Adopt-A-Pet.com and the SCHS’s Facebook
page (attach a link). Complementing the SCHS's efforts are:

Pet Food Collection and Distribution Project
Dog food is now being distributed through the food banks in Smyth County. Participating food banks are:
- Main Street Mission in Marion
- Atkins Church of God in Atkins
- Sugar Grove
Education Project
Speakers are available for educational programs about humane treatment of animals and responsible pet ownership to children and adult groups. Call 276-677-3996 for more information or to arrange for a program.
